DAI VIET

                                      By Charlotte

The Dai Viet dynasty was located in southern China. People of south east Asia (the Vietnamese) were least influenced by the Indian culture. They carried on Chinese culture and influences. Buddhism was used for ideas for the government, but they still preserved their own culture. The women had much more freedom and influence.  Around 100 B.C., during the Han period, China conquered Northern Vietnam. The Vietnamese broke off from China when the Tang dynasty started to weaken. Then Vietnam was an independent empire in 939 A.D. The Ly dynasty rulers had their capital at Hanoi. They had a strong government and encouraged agriculture and trade. They also improved trading routes and water transportation. These changes made by the Ly still influenced Vietnam, even after they fell.
