YAMATO

By the 400s A.D. the Yamato dynasty was the leading clan. By the 7th century A.d. they called themselves emperors of Japan, but many of the rulers lacked real power. In Japan they had a ruler that was both a figurehead and ruled at the same time. The Yamato rulers claimed to be descendents from Sun goddesses they worshipped.
