KHMER: Rise and Fall

The capital of the Khmer dynasty was Angkor. Named after Angkor Wat, who built one of the world's greatest architectual achievements; The Bayon Temple. Like the Song dynasty, they were very big rice farmers. The Khmer farmers cultivated about three to four crops of rice each year. Along with that, they built irrigation systems and waterways. By improving their cultivation, they became more successful. Another key factor was the building of city and temple (The Bayon Temple) which created jobs and attracted tourists (which brought in money). The Khmer armies conquered neighboring empires and expanded on their own empire. But the main power was near the South Eastern land. The Khmer empire reached its peak in the 1200s.
